CHANGE IDEA GUIDES:
KidTalk - A data routine for 9th-grade teachers with common students to have asset-based conversations about supporting individual students with academic struggle in 1 or 2 areas.
On-The-Cusp Protocol - A data routine for teachers or on-track team members to discuss root causes and action steps to support a group of students who have 1-2 D/Fs and good attendance (“on the cusp” of passing all their classes).
Student List Protocol - A protocol designed to facilitate team conversations about a targeted group of students specifically chosen based on shared data characteristics.
Data Protocol Library - Choose from several protocols based on your team structure, discussion purpose, and time available.

Early Assignment Recovery - Immediately after a student misses an important assignment early in a marking period, provide a new blank copy of the missing work with a personal note indicating your belief in the student’s abilities and willingness to provide support

BTSC Developmental Relationships Survey - A short survey administered 2x/year that asks students about the strength of their relationships with adults and if they have an adult they can go to for support on campus.
2x10 - A strategy to strengthen a relationship with one student by speaking with them for just two minutes a day for 10 consecutive days.
42Q - A routine for sharing relationships survey results back to students and dialoguing with students about what they need from their relationships with adults

Grading Reflection & Alignment
Gradebook Review - A protocol for teacher teams to identify root causes of D and F grades, collaborate to analyze findings, and test changes in grading and classroom practices
Gradebook Review for Admin - A protocol for an administrator to run to support a teacher struggling with the root causes of Ds and Fs.
Gradebook Audit - A group of teachers or an administrator reviews gradebook settings to surface variation and work towards alignment.
Classroom Policies & Practices
Make-Up Day - Structured time in class for students to work on and submit incomplete or missing assignments without penalty
Retakes - A grading practice that allows students another opportunity to show their understanding after taking an assessment and receiving their results
0 - 4 Grading Scale - A grading scale that evaluates student performance with whole numbers from 0 to 4, offering greater precision and less subjectivity than the traditional 100-point scale
Eliminating Zeros - When students do not submit work, enter “incomplete” or “missing” in the gradebook rather than a zero
Minimum Grading - A grading practice where the lowest possible grade a student can receive on an assignment or assessment is set at a minimum of 50%
